After the show my friend Tony asked me if we were interested in playing at a 'house' show and I almost spit out my 'water' saying 'yes' so fast. Kinda like when Deon asked us to play at a skate park on a sunny Saturday in Chilliwack BC. Um, well, yes please. Do you know what it's like down there?
*points in the wrong direction while wearing the wrong shorts
Find a band that doesn't judge you for your shorts. Even if they are totally wrong for the 'band costume' and fully 'falling apart', stay strong. Find a new band that respects your shorts, and everything that your dreams desire. Their negativity is unnecessary for the future, shorty. Sometimes weird rips in old clothing represent the scars of sacred memories.
A young punk told me that he still had the toy soldier that I threw at him while dressed as Santa last July at our fake Christmas party. Made me feel so festive. He said he was gonna throw it back at us but forgot it in his car and my feelings doubled up. It was so punk rock. I love that place.
Pro tip: show up early, enjoy every band
To all our friends in Chilliwack: you have a rad scene going on over there. Hold onto it. Don't let the monsters in, except for me. Your community is wildly genuine and I promise not to bring any new crabbers back to steal your apples. Stay unique, stay in tune, and I hope to see you again real soon.
