*talented vocal artist 'Cool Colin' prepares for his next set of well-cultured rhymes
Every band needs a Shafer. He built a vocal booth in his loft. And he is producing the entire album by himself. The rest of us help, I guess. We all collaborate on ideas and play our instruments (sorta), but when it comes to the actual recording, Shafe is the king of the idiot kingdom. He calls the shots and likes the hops. We finished half the vocals in the first 2 sessions. So smooth. It gets hot in there but the mystical draperies allow cool waves of peacefulness to squeak through the air-tight enclosure of awesome. In there, one can be at one with the dumbest batch of lyrics we've yet to lay so gracefully on tape. This album feels really fun right now. We laugh at it daily. It's easy to stick with a long project when the work is a constant reward. We got better as a band in the last 6 months and that is showing up on the album. Not every trail leads to the lake. Luckily dumb things from over a year ago are still hilarious to us. This is the best we've got so far. The fruit is ripe. Being proud of a project takes the workload out of it. Except for Shafer, he still has to do everything.
Well, that's the update. Couple more weeks of recording sessions, then a big show at the Media Club on June 25th. One more round before the ham turns brown. Thanks for reading. The album gets fresher with every layer of toppings, piled high in the air.
